A hospitalist is a physician whose primary clinical practice is in a hospital setting and who provides care to admitted inpatients. Hospital settings can include acute care, post-acute care (rehabilitation or complex continuing care) or psychiatric care. In Canada, hospitalists are typically trained in family medicine or internal medicine.
